From Aunt Angie

Bring to a boil:
3 c. Water
4 Tbsp butter (1/2 stick)
1 tsp salt

Remove from heat and add:
3 1/2 c. instant potatoes
1 c. milk
1 small container French onion dip
1 8 oz. tub cream cheese with chives
1 stick butter

Stir until combined. Place in buttered casserole. Pat with butter. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
